Redfish- Still Tweaking

Here is another subject suggestion from the same lovely couple in South Carolina. In this case, the background is darker; yet, I am not satisfied. (Maybe the "problem" is with the fish....)

I still intend to tweak this one. In fact, I haven't even signed it--it is a work in progress. Ideas are always welcome.

Shark Eye Shells

This is a 6x6 daily painting of a shark eye shell. I found it while vacationing in Nagshead, NC. It has travelled with me ever since. (My daughter loves the name. She, like me, thought it was a petrified eyeball. Thank goodness for the wisdom of parents!)

The Illustrious Chicken

I forgot to add this photo to the previous post (I'm still learning). These were some of our chickens at the farm during 2007. The white one in the upper middle is "Ruffles Puffles Muffles Cuffles." (Can you guess who named her?) She liked to climb onto our porch (with her friends) and sit in a cushioned chair to lay her eggs. The egg in my first daily painting was one of hers (and was later incorporated into a chocolate chip cookie dough batter).

Egg Yolk with Shell

This 6x6 daily painting was my first EVER (completed in 2007). At that time, I wasn't very "daily," liked this immensely, and hung it in my kitchen for my personal enjoyment. I did two more (#2 and #3) which were sold to private collectors. NFS

Cracked Egg, No. 2

A sick child and creativity don't mix, so here's a daily painting from late 2008 to fill in the current void. Let me know if you are interested in this or its companion (posted earlier). Otherwise, enjoy! $75 --Purchase from artist

Toy Top 2

Acrylic, 6x6, SOLD
While I had the paint tubes on the floor (which is where I actually paint--weird, I know), I decided to do another view. Now, I'll clean up my mess.

Toy Top

Acrylic on Artists' Board
6x6
SOLD
I think I finally managed to achieve glossiness without varnish. I'd been thinking about painting this vintage top for weeks--glad I finally made the attempt.

Clam Shell No. 6

This 6x6 daily painting is another one of my heavily textured ones (like an earlier one I posted), but shows the inside of the shell instead of its reverse side. Again, it uses acrylic modeling paste for the water, fine garnet gel for the sand, and is heavily varnished on only the water and shell for that "wet look." We acquired this shell (along with many others) while living on the East Coast. Makes me yearn for steamed clams and drawn butter!

Paperwhite Bulb

It always feels like Spring when the perfume of paperwhites fills the air. My daughter and I planted a few containers of these bulbs and some are now in full bloom. Magical.

Barred Owl

This 6x6 daily painting is based on a recent photograph taken by my uncle, Paul Scharf. I was going for a "realistic" look, but it turned into more of an impressionistic one. Hope I still did it justice.

Red Onion

Each time I buy a red onion, my husband decides to eat it before I have a chance to paint. I hid this one for a day in my studio. (Watch it rot in the bin, now that I don't need it anymore!)

Oyster

Yet another 6x6 painting. 'Tis the season for this fabulous shellfish. We get them from the Gulf of Mexico--heavenly. SOLD

Bucket of Chicken

SOLD-- This 6x6 daily painting consists of last night's dinner. It is the first time I've bought a bucket since moving from Virginia in 2003! Needless to say, it was delicioso and our family of three has leftovers. (Guess what's for dinner tonight?) It's on eBay, if interested....

Baseball with Glove 2

SOLD--Guess I'm tired of football. Spring is in the air in Texas today (again) and I'm thinking "baseball." This little 6x6 painting will be posted on eBay later tonight. (Now just need to get through basketball!)

Medley of Mushrooms

Though I painted this in 2007, I still enjoy it. Unfortunately, my inventory is getting "outdated." (The models, by the way, were a gustatory success in a decadent mushroom bisque soup.)
