The Artist's Voice

Acrylic on Ampersand panel, 7x5--Contact the artist for purchase information
This is the third (and final) Ampersand panel that had been collecting dust for awhile. What better way to commemorate the changes in my artistic career than by honoring the "quill" that gives me a voice? (Remember how I said that painting glass was difficult? So is painting metal!)

Wine Bottle, No. 1

Acrylic on Ampersand panel, 7x5--Contact the artist for purchase information
Here is one of those lonely panels, all dressed up! Glass is difficult to paint. Let's consider this an impressionistic painting.

These were some of the juiciest tomato slices I've eaten in months--and it is January!!!!!

Corks

Acrylic on Ampersand panel, 7x5--SOLD
Iwent through an acrylic painting spree yesterday--I had three Ampersand panels in stock (and in need of "makeup." Acrylics just look luscious on a smooth surface. Anyway, I don't often drink wine, but I've noticed that finding a stopper made of cork is rare these days (maybe it's the amount I spend on a bottle that determines the type of stopper?????). Finding two made of cork in a drawer was a stroke of luck.

Coffee Pot, No. 1

Oil on cotton canvas, 6x6--View eBay Auction
This enamelware coffee pot painting is based on a photo I took during a chuckwagon cook-off along the San Gabriel River in Texas. The pot was in actual use by the wagon's crew. Expect to see more of this subject--I took LOTS of pictures.

10 Artists That Will Give You a Toothache

Many thanks to Sarah Norman who included my "Candy Apple" painting in her blog, "Tipsy Laundry" under the title, "10 Artists That Will Give You a Toothache." I was thrilled to see the other artists chosen--I have followed and studied the styles of several of them when I first began painting food a couple of years ago. What sweet recognition!!!! Thank you, Sarah, and thank you to my peers for the inspiration!

Prints Now Available!

You like the painting, but not the price.
Maybe the size is "wrong."

You want framing options.

The subject matter would be great on invitations, birthday cards, Christmas cards, notes, etc.

Fine Art America is now offering prints of many of my original paintings in a variety of sizes, finishes (e.g., matte, gloss), and materials (e.g., paper, stretched canvas, giclee). Click on the link to see the artwork that is currently available. (If you don't see a painting that you remember from this blog or my website, please contact me. I probably just haven't uploaded the photo and information to the site yet.)
Originals are great, but options are too!

Mussel Shell

Oil on canvas panel, 6x6--View eBay Auction Listing
This is a remnant from New Year's Eve's gourmet lobster bake which was cooked on my wood-burning stove in Schulenburg. My husband was actually able to find clams and mussels in Georgetown, Texas earlier in the day. A friend from Houston brought the lobsters. Along with shrimp, red bliss potatoes, corn on the cob, artchoke hearts, and poached garlic cloves--all in a white wine-based broth, this was sheer gustatory magic!

Eggplant with Lemon--Round 2

Oil on Artists' Panel, 6x6x.75--$75--Purchase from artist
Here I go again--fussing with backgrounds. I first did this painting in November. The background was greenish and DARK. The eggplant and its shadow "disappeared" due to the lack of contrast. Now, I've made the background more neutral, gave the lemon more texture, and messed with a few highlights. I officially consider this painting finis.

My Goof, Someone's Gain

Oil on canvas panel, 6x6 - SOLD
I goofed. While relisting this painting on eBay, I entered $9 instead of $95 for the opening bid. In good conscience, I won't remove the listing--I made a mistake. My young daughter was highly amused when I realized this error.
Consider this a massive sale--if you bid, it will probably be FAR LESS than the price I had in mind. (For those who spent $95 or more on other pieces: please forgive me. I was distracted when I listed this and don't mean to devalue my work. I will be more conscientious in the future....) Happy bidding (I hope)!
