Chinese Take-Out with Mandarin Oranges

Oil on canvas panel, 8x6--SOLD
Sometimes I crave Chinese take-out! Recently, while gorging myself on chicken fried rice, I was mesmorized by the box. These waxy works of "art" were originally used as oyster pails! Oysters were shucked by pros, then packed into these containers for transport home by housewives. Who knew?

  1. You've done a great job of taking an ordinary subject and making it just beautiful! I like the dark background - really pulls the box and mandarin oranges forward. Very nice!

  2. Thank you, Linda! I actually had a lighter background, but it didn't seem to "work." Some pthalo blue, burnt umber and good old mars black did the trick.
