Oyster on the Half Shell

Oil on Belgian Linen Panel (Museum Grade)
6"x6"

This little gem of the sea was served to me at The Deckhand, an oyster bar in Round Rock, Texas. Fresh from the waters of Galveston, I had to immortalize its luscious beauty prior to devouring it with a squeeze of lemon and horseradish. The other patrons must have thought I was insane as I took pictures galore before allowing anyone in my family to touch the platter! (My family, of course, knows the routine.) By the way, it was delicious....

Slippery When Wet

6x8
SOLD

Happy New Year!  Now that the child and husband have returned to school and work respectively, I broke out the acrylics (usually I paint with oils) and tried something whimsical.  The result is a mermaid luxuriating in a bubble bath.  I've entitled it, "Slippery  When Wet."  Enjoy!

Red and Silver Christmas Ornaments

Oil on Canvas Panel
6x6

My daughter is studying German as a freshman in high school.  Last night, she put one of her cowboy boots (yes, we live in Texas) by the fire for Sankt Nikolaus--announced that December 6th is St. Nicholas Day--and wondered (aloud--several times) if  it would be filled with goodies overnight.  Of course, I studied German for 6 years and was  prepared.  Sankt Nikolaus filled that boot with  treats, sweets AND a new package of dental floss!  What a guy....

Gulf Crab

Oil on Gallery-Wrapped Canvas
24x12
SOLD

As an Eastern Seaboard resident, I was well-acquainted with the exquisite blue crabs from the Chesapeake Bay.  Their delectable meat, kissed with Old Bay seasoning and dipped in vinegar is an incomparable eating experience.  Imagine my surprise one year upon visiting a local crab house in Virginia and finding out that the crabs were flown in from Texas!

Now a resident of Texas, I dearly miss my Atlantic coast, yet I am grateful for the bounty of the Gulf of Mexico.  Every time I visit Galveston, I pack my personal supply of Old Bay and hit the wharves in search of this culinary treasure.  It's almost like being home again....
