Portland Head Light

Oil on Canvas
16x20
Not for Sale
(Prints are available)

As a child of a US Marine, we moved frequently.  For two years, we were stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station, Maine.  Nearby, in Cape Elizabeth, was this hauntingly beautiful lighthouse known as "Portland Head Light."  I've painted this as a gift for my mother as a reminder of our wonderful life near the sea....

White Onion, No. 1

Oil on cradled artists' board, 6x6 - $100-Contact artist
This subject was an excellent choice for working with variations of white. Look closely and you will see others, though--notably, ultramarine blue. Since this reminds me of the colors of winter, I plan to use this as the January painting for my 2010 calendar which is almost ready for printing.

Silo in Winter

This is a rare landscape that I painted a couple of days ago. It was based on a photograph by my late first husband, taken over twenty years ago as we galavanted around Williamsburg, Virginia during a snowstorm in our new 4x4. I always thought it was an absolutely gorgeous scene and I finally tried to honor it with a painting. I think he would be pleased.... NFS
