Rustic Pear

This painting underwent numerous background changes last year before I settled on the two-part "mottled" green. I still wasn't pleased with the result and took the painting to an fellow artist (who is an expert framer) for advice. She designed this combination--vastly enhancing my piece. Needless to say, she fell in love with it and is now its proud owner.

Farmhouse Doorknob

I enjoy all things rustic, whether it is an old, weathered barn or a rusty piece of ironwork. This 18"x14" acrylic painting is no exception--it depicts the door leading from the living room to the master bedroom in my old, 1928 farmhouse in rural Schulenburg, Texas. The patina of the bronze was a challenge as well as trying to make the knob, itself, look almost 3-dimensional. I think, though, that this painting captures a little bit of the character of my precious old house. In that regard, I succeeded. It is for sale through my website: http://www.kkartstudios.com/.
