I adore skeleton keys and have a collection of them that are still in use at our old farmhouse.  Each door requires a different key, causing a bit of confusion!  Anyway, while painting this, I thought a splotch of color was needed.  I've always enjoyed the phrase, "key to my heart."  Hence, a small Valentine's Day candy fit the requirement.

This little painting was done in anticipation of Valentine's Day last year.  Unfortunately, I didn't time its debut very well and it has been homeless ever since.  (Though, I think the message is timeless....)  The key, by the way, is actually still in use for one of my doors--it's the easiest one to find on my keychain!

Strawberry

I hate to admit this: this plump strawberry was originally covered in decadent dark chocolate. I couldn't get the proper color of brown mixed on my palette, so I peeled off the chocolate and promptly disposed of it (YUM), leaving this poor strawberry naked.
