Hello there!  I am currently recuperating from a tonsillectomy, so my artistic juices aren't flowing as mush as the apple juice I am forced to drink.  In my "absence" from the real world, I have put together a set of miniature paintings (ACEOs) of various types of sushi. These are ORIGINAL paintings (3.5 x 2.5) that can be framed or used as note cards and/or unique gifts for sushi-loving friends or family members. 

Each painting comes in a protective acetate sleeve along with a die-cut frame card and envelope. The sushi consists of the following:  California roll with chopsticks, fried egg nigiri, octopus nigiri, salmon nigiri, salmon roe, and shrimp nigiri.  Just think, these will never spoil!

I plan to offer other miniature painting/note card sets in the near future.  If you have any suggestions for subject matter, I am listening!

Garden produce!  I think I am growing 8 different kinds of peppers with ratings that run the gamut on the Scoville scale.  These cayennes are a  mere 30-50,000 heat units.  That's NOTHING here in Texas!

We had three baby chicks in my backyard.  As long as they were hens, my neighbors were "on board" with this arrangement (they ARE legal in my town). Imagine my shock when I went outside to visit with them (the chicks, not the neighbors) and one started crowing at me!  (I admit, as he grew, he was starting to look a little different....)  

Clearly, eggs are not in his future. Needless to say, he now resides on a farm in La Grange.  This little painting pays homage to that little cock....  :)

I'm dreaming of the beach again.  We weren't able to go to the coast this summer and I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms as a result.  This little sand dollar (from one I found near the surf in Galveston) certainly helps ease the suffering!

Have you ever heard of an "ear worm?"  For the uninitiated, a earworm is a song that remains stuck in one's head, repeating ad nauseum.  This happens to me frequently.  Usually, it is a some cringe-worthy musical trash that invades my brain.  Sometimes, though, it is a song that I genuinely enjoy.  

What do earworms have to do with this painting.  Everything!  My current earworm is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Honey Bee."  Today's painting was the result.  (Thank you, Tom!)

I adore skeleton keys and have a collection of them that are still in use at our old farmhouse.  Each door requires a different key, causing a bit of confusion!  Anyway, while painting this, I thought a splotch of color was needed.  I've always enjoyed the phrase, "key to my heart."  Hence, a small Valentine's Day candy fit the requirement.

I can't believe we've already experienced the All Stars Game!  Baseball is in full swing (pun intended!) and I have enjoyed several AAA games at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas.  My family and I had to leave early during one of the games (work, morning appointments).  While reluctantly walking to the car, a foul ball flew over the stadium roof and landed in front of us.  Needless to say, my daughter promptly retrieved it from under a parked SUV.  Here it is....

Here is a rare attempt at painting a flower--in this case, a sunflower from my backyard.  I don't know why I struggle with them!  Rather than a realistic approach, I've tried a more impressionistic one.  

Any thoughts?
