Christmas Ornaments

Oil on canvas panel
6x6

The tree is finally decorated and a chill is in the Texas air! These vintage ornaments originally adorned my parents' Christmas trees over the years. Many broke and are just memories in photo albums. A few survived, though--including these silver and red balls. They now have places of honor in my home (and are carefully stored after the holiday season!).

Stone Crab Claw - In Progress

Clearly, I have shellfish on my mind! I began this 10x10 stone crab claw painting yesterday; hopefully, the final details (and a little story) will be added tomorrow or Friday.  Stay tuned!

Mussels No. 2

Another delicacy from the sea....  These are difficult to obtain here in Central Texas.  I occassionally spend big bucks to buy a bag from our monopolizing grocery store in Georgetown; unfortunately, there is always a death rate of 50% or higher.  Those odds aren't worth the cost. Let's not even discuss the frozen options!  Thus, I must live with my memories of the East Coast and the shells I saved from shellfish feasts gone bye....

Fig on Leaf

Oil on Canvas Panel (museum grade)
6x6
Available

A beautiful fig tree once resided on our farm; the drought and unbearable heat have taken their toll this summer.  Fortunately, I planted one of its sprouts in Georgetown a couple of years ago.  With extra babying, it continues to thrive and produce succulent snacks for me while doing yardwork.

Doughnut with Sprinkles

Oil on Canvas
6x6
SOLD

Hello, blog visitors.  It's been ages since my last posting; please forgive me--life occasionally shifts one's priorities.
This was my daughter's doughnut; alas, she is visiting Grandma and it sat in my kitchen the last couple of days--mocking me.  Needless to say, I immortalized her chocolately treat before sending it to the compost pile.  No calories were consumed during (or after) the creation of this painting.

Pear on Wood Crate

Oil on Gallery-Wrapped Canvas, 20 x 20 x 1 3/8 -- View eBay Listing

I was looking at some old fruit crates the other day and decided to tackle the painting of wood on a larger scale.  Hopefully, I think I did it justice.

Canning Jars - Progress - Day 3

More details are beginning to appear. I'm playing with the background. (Longtime followers know the agony I experience with this part of the process!) Still need to tackle those lids and the baby corn....

Canning Jars - Progress - Day 1

I am trying to be a little more diligent in "recording" my progress with my larger paintings (since I've done so few).
Canned foods are commonplace in rural Texas. I've actually tried my hand at canning and have made such delectable goodies as spiced pears, loquat jam, tomato sauce, fig preserves, strawberry jam, dill pickles, and apple jelly. They look like glistening jewels inside those glass jars! Now, it is time to immortalize them in art. Stay tuned....

Chuckwagon Salsa - Final

Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, 20x20--Available
My masterpiece! I can't begin to describe how pleased I am with this painting! If no one purchases it, this work of art will look amazing in my farmhouse kitchen. Win, win.
